Espaço Ímpar

The Drop-In Espaço Ímpar presents itself as a response, developed in a facility open to the community, which consists of providing a set of services to the homeless population in need of daytime occupation, allowing them to enjoy a space that simultaneously meets their most basic needs (food, hygiene, clothing, internet access), promotes access to health and social services, and promotes their role as active citizens (job search, social voice, and promotion of their rights and duties).

This response is provided in collaboration and co-construction with its beneficiaries, requesting their involvement and active participation in building the entire dynamic to be implemented in the space.

Espaço Ímpar – CRESCER, Praça José Cardoso Pires 1, 2700-871 Amadora

Target Group

The most vulnerable populations who, to this day, have been unable to connect with any formal support structure, despite a significant number having already accessed existing resources within the social support network. These individuals are mostly living on the streets or in the process of gaining autonomy in their own homes and are seeking a place of belonging and familiarity.

Namely:

  • – People experiencing homelessness

  • – People who use legal and illegal psychoactive substances

Mission

To support the most vulnerable and excluded populations, aiming to rehabilitate their social capacities and skills through the development of integrated activities within “structured” programmes that require regular participation, or “flexible” programmes, where attendance depends on the person’s availability and motivation.

Objectives

To support and foster personal development and empowerment by maximising each participant’s abilities, promoting personal autonomy and the development of skills that enable a greater capacity to respond in different contexts.

To encourage alternative life pathways to the current situation and, where possible, guide participants towards specific treatment programmes and socio-professional (re)integration.

Our Intervention

The first imperative is to create conditions for establishing a relationship of trust and for the space to be invested as a true place of listening, care, and skill acquisition. The space offers a range of resources and services, allowing the user the freedom to choose to use them for as long as they desire, based on their individual needs and goals.

This space will primarily serve to support and foster the development of individual and social skills of the target population, enabling individuals to better respond in various contexts and mobilizing them towards an alternative life path to their current situation.
